Through a blend of history, and teachings, we aim to provide valuable insights into this ancient craft. Join us on a journey of discovery and camaraderie, and explore ways to get involved. Step into a world of Masonic enlightenment and tradition with Hallamshire Lodge 2268.

We meet on the 3rd Thursday of each month (except July and August) at Tapton Hall, Shore Lane, Sheffield, starting at 6.30pm, with a rehearsal and Lodge School (where members

can practice their ritual) on the preceding Monday.  Following each meeting the members gather for a 3-course meal (known

as Festive Board) at the Hall.  Dress code is Black Lounge suit, white shirt, black or Masonic tie and black shoes.

The lodge members partners also meet 2 or 3 times a year for a meal and attend the Christmas and other social festivities.

Our History

The Hallamshire Lodge was consecrated in 1888 as a daughter lodge of Britannia.  It was predominantly a Steel man’s Lodge with many prominent Sheffield Steel men becoming members.  The membership remained very much Engineering and business based.  It was thrown into turmoil, however, in 1963 when Harold Brook joined the Lodge.  Harold had been a professional footballer with Sheffield United and Leeds United from 1948 to 58 when he retired and became a Newsagent.  “A footballer in our Lodge!”  How times have changed.

Our Members

The Hallamshire Lodge now counts in its membership professional men from all walks of life, some retired but many still working who manage to fit their Masonic duties around their working and family lives. The age demographic ranges from members in their late 20's/early 30's through to retired professionals. We also make time to meet each other outside of lodge to take part in various hobbies and past times and ensure we look out for our friends and family past and present.

Many of our members are interested in:

Walking, hiking, golf, cycling, visiting places of interest, bowling, board games and general catch ups in coffee shops, restaurants and pubs.  We are a great group of individuals that look out for each other and have great comaraderie and fun.  We are happier for having met.
